A place called home
Sunday, April 1, 2012 |
Jim Nix Thanks for stopping by today folks - and where do you call home?

I love to shoot sunrise in Austin, and I love Austin. I'm not from here - seems no one really is - but it's home. I travel a lot (as you can tell from my photos, I'm guessing) but am always happy to return to this place that I call home. I know shortcuts to the spots I'm going to. I know which Mexican food place has the best enchiladas. And of course I know where I want to be standing when the sun rises - and how to get there fast. It all just feels right. You know what I mean? You have a place like that?

What a great image Jim. Perfect light, color and reflection. Couldn't ask for more. I don't have the same photo opportunities code to home but the Maine coast fells like home to me with it's rugged shoreline and lighthouses.
A fantastic shot. Awesome sunset, reflections, and framing. Just perfect my friend. :)
Hey, Jim... Beautiful shot. I see you're still waking up brutally early! Sadly, we don't have good enchiladas here where I live.
I do love your sunset shots Jim. Beautiful light and reflections.
Great shot, Jim. That intense color and balance of clouds on right with buildings on left is perfect. Nicely done!
Len, Adam, Rob, Edith and Mark - thanks so much for the comments today!
I am afraid I am mesmerized by that reflection. Send someone next Tuesday to see if I am still here, please.
hehe thanks so much Toad!
Great shot! Just wondering where you were standing and just where are the best enchiladas?
Hi Denise, thanks for the visit. I was standing on the Pflueger Pedestrian Bridge (next to Lamar St) and my fave enchiladas are the crispy stacked chicken enchiladas at Zocalo!
I have been in Austin for 22 years. It is a wonderful city which has a vibrancy and pulse all its own. There are so many beautiful places to shoot photos in the city. Like you, Jim, I have been to them a million times, but each time they can be seen in a new light - literally! I have many photos of Austin, many in HDR, which can be viewed here --> Mostly Austin, Texas.
