Entering Rosenborg Castle

Copenhagen is a very photogenic town.  I loved my visit there.  I am basically a Europhile - loving just about everything about the culture, history and sights that I have seen over there.  In fact, I have yet to find a city in Europe that I didn’t like.

But something about Copenhagen stood out to me.  As a photographer, I am always looking for interesting and beautiful things to aim my Nikon at, and found them aplenty in Copenhagen.  Castles, canals, statues - heck, even graffiti - this town has it all!

This is Rosenborg Castle, which sits sort of in the middle of town.  I saw it on my handy little map, and was wandering the streets trying to make my way there.  Then, the streets and buildings ended, and a large, open public space stood before me, with this at the center.  And yeah...I took a few photos. :-)

The waterfall at Bull Creek

I love Bull Creek Greenbelt here in Austin - it's one of my favorite spots in the city.  I hike there, trail run there, and sometimes take the Nikon out there for some photo work.  On my last photo excursion there, I opted to snag a few long exposures of this little waterfall.  It's small, but packs a lot of awesomeness for it's size!

Sunrise at The Grand Wailea

This is the photo that I gave a preview of on my FB page the other day, while I was working on it in Color Efex Pro.  I grabbed this my first morning in Maui.  Being 5 hours behind my normal time zone, it was pretty easy to get up for sunrise!  In fact, I think I woke up around 3am.  So in other words, no excuses for missing this one!

I was really glad that I did get up, because as you can see the color in the sky was fabulous that morning.  I knew I wanted to get the pool (I am always looking for reflections) and luckily at that time I was the only person I saw.  That’s one of the main benefits of shooting at sunrise - you get a beautiful scene all to yourself!

By the way, if you are location-curious, this is the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui.  It’s a great property, right on the beach, and they take good care of their guests!

Blue hour on the Austin skyline

I may be a little biased, but I think the Austin skyline is pretty awesome.  Anytime I can get a skyline with a river in front of it (hello, Nashville!) then I am pretty happy, especially during sunset or blue hour.  Everything just seems so calm and peaceful...but in reality, I am firing brackets like a madman!

I grabbed this one a few weeks back when I was out with my friends Andy and Kay (and Kay’s wife - they were in town from Germany).  Glad we were able to show them a nice view of Austin!
