Millennium sunset

Do you ever feel like you will never get your photos processed and shared?  Yeah, me neither :-) .

I was going through one of my old London photo batches taken over a year ago and thought I would give this shot a go.  It was sunset and I was shooting along the River Thames with Mike Murphy and John Esslinger - both locals and great photogs you should follow.  We were next to the Tate Modern, shooting here at the Millennium Bridge.  As you can see the sunset was pretty awesome.

For some reason though, I never got around to processing this pic, and now that I have, I rather like it.  It’s just that I have so many and I try to mix things up for you all, so you don’t get burned out on one place.  (Ok, so I don’t get burned out on one place.)

Anyways – here it is.  Better late than never, right? (And yes, I realize this photo isn’t perfectly centered/aligned.  Call that “artistic license”.  Or maybe the bridge is skewed a little.)

Winter at Loch Lomond

I grabbed this HDR while wandering the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland.  It’s an incredible place, and it seemed like I had it all to myself.  It had been a rainy morning, but the rain stopped long enough for me to shoot for an hour or so around the banks of this secluded Loch.  I kept hoping for Nessie to raise up out of the depths, but of course that’s a different Loch so I struck out there.  Despite missing out on a mythical monster, I had a monster time firing shots in this gorgeous place.  If you ever get a chance to visit - take it and go, you will love seeing this for yourself...monster or not.

A Scottish church

I shot this in a little town called Drymen, which is about 15 miles from Glasgow, Scotland.  I was in the area for 1 night and headed out to shoot at Loch Lomond which is nearby.  En route, I passed this little church and just loved the look of the whole scene.  I thought it was beautiful.  So, I stopped.  I knew the Loch wasn’t going anywhere.

This scene felt very “small town-ish” to me, if that makes sense.  If you look all the way down the road you can see the various grave markers which are scattered on the lawn in front of the church.  I liked the long road leading you to the church, and the textures of the red brick posts with the patches of moss growing on them.

It had recently rained (this is Scotland, you know!) and I was happy to get a little tree reflection in that one puddle.  The barren trees and overcast skies added to the mood of the scene.  Thankfully the rain was over, so I shot away here for a bit before heading off in search of Loch Lomond...

Leadenhall both ways

This is Leadenhall Market in London.  Isn’t it fabulous??  I just loved this place.  When I was in London a while back, this was #1 on my list of places that I wanted to see (and shoot, of course).  I had seen pics online and was very intrigued.  I had to get there.

So, I got up one morning, took a couple of rides on the Tube, and ended up somewhat nearby (as close as I could get on the Tube, that is).  I took a couple of wrong turns and walked down some streets in the wrong direction, but that was ok because I obviously found it.  It was worth the effort I spent getting there, and I got a little exercise in the process.  Plus I discovered my sense of direction is kind of screwed up.  :-)

Leadenhall Market is a historic covered market in London, dating back hundreds of years.  I was just taken with the place.  I think I spent an hour or so photographing it from various angles, and it is not really that large.  I just find this sort of thing so interesting.  Be sure and put it on your list when you visit!  It’s well worth it!

Big Ben bus blur

I was hoping to have something exciting to tell you about this photo, but honestly, I just don't.  It wasn't terribly exciting.  I was in London, and up on the Westminster Bridge, trying to get a shot of Big Ben and hoping I could get some cool light trails too.  Then, a bus came by.  One of those lovely double-decker tourist buses.  Worked out pretty good, actually.

London is a great town to visit and shoot in.  If you do plan to visit, be sure and check out my list of Top Photo Spots in London, which you can find here.
